Peter Pixzel is a London-based DJ/Producer, co-founder, and resident of WetYourSelf, the longstanding and renowned weekend party at fabriclondon. Following his WYS!023 release that claimed a Minimal #1 chart spot on Traxsource, he returns to open his label account for 2022 with a gripping two-track EP, supplemented by remixes from Andre Buljat & label counterpart Jacob Husley.
The release opens with the title track ‘Motions’, instantly diving into a quintessentially wholesome underground club cut. Pumping drum work and crisp percussive grooves pulsate along to a score of rhythmic bass notes, rippling synth licks and glitchy fills. Undeniably danceable and loaded to the hilt with feel-good energy, an emphatic start to this incredible collection of tracks.
‘SoPhat’ comes next, bringing an analogue-focused club cut with a melodic emphasis. Swinging drums and sizzling hat sequences bounce along whilst the ebb and flow of several harmonic layers go through peaks and troughs from end to end. The track’s seamless blend of atmospheric phases forms a movement-invoking wormhole perfect for any peak-time dancefloor.
Minimal master Andre Buljat is next to feature with his remix of ‘SoPhat’. Flipping the original production on its
head, this driving flurry of gritty beats and detuned melodic components carves out an instant underground delight. Dark, robust and relentless, contrasting the original mix in standout fashion whilst cleverly retaining core elements of its persona.
Closing the release, WetYourSelf! Co-founder Jacob Husley turns in another extraordinary remix of ‘SoPhat’. Uptempo rhythms and dream-like tonal constructions feature with prominence as the track ushers you along with a sense of urgency and suspense. Running a blend of gritty analogue components and racy cadence from end to end, this one will get your blood pumping.
