Opulence is back once again with another volume in its superb Sensory series. Once again it knocks it out of the park with a vital various artists mix of slick minimal house such as SIT, Maher Daniel, Cali Lanauze & Deaf Pillow, and Mike Shannon.
SIT’s Side Project opens with six minutes of slippery and balmy house that is laced up with gorgeous pads. They are dreamy and widescreen over a chattery beat that locks you in. Cali Lanauze and Deaf Pillow then offer the tight and bumping beats of U Never Knew which is denied by a stunning bassline. Syncussion from Maher Daniel does trippy things with percussion and is a head twisting, melon melting late night groove packed with hit layers of gooey synth and bass. Last of all is Drinks With Weinstein from Mike Shannon. It’s a dark and involving, with mumbling bass hurried deep and glitchy perc and synth modulations up top. These are four fierce tunes designed for those in the know.
